Before the Industrial Revolution and the invention of various means of transportation, the only way to travel and trade between cities and countries was to use caravans that traveled along these routes using animals such as horses and camels. During the long journeys, in areas that are mostly dry and waterless, along the way, in certain places, places for rest and preparation of necessities were built, which was known as the caravanserai. In addition to rooms for travelers to rest, these caravanserais mainly had water and the necessities of caravans, thus minimizing the need for travelers to carry food.
There are such caravanserais in Iran and in many provinces of central Iran, the most important of which is the Marnjab caravanserai, which is located in Isfahan province and on the edge of the beautiful Marnjab desert.
One of the famous caravanserais in Iran, which is considered by tourists, especially foreign tourists, due to its different and unusual shape; His name is Zainodin orZain al-Din . This caravanserai is circular in shape, which is rarely seen in caravanserais.
