Blue Mosque according to the inscription on its entrance; It was built in 870 AH, during the reign of Sultan Jahanshah, the most powerful ruler of the Qara Quyunluyan dynasty, who was a handsome man and poet. The variety and elegance of the tiling and the types of lines used in it, as well as the beauty and harmony of the colors have made it known as the “Turquoise of Islam“. The inscriptions were written by the famous ninth-century calligrapher Nimatullah al-Bawab, and he was in charge of Izz al-Din al-Qapuchi.

Earthquake of 1193 AH. It has caused the domes to collapse. Repairs and reconstruction of the mosque in order to protect the remaining parts, including arches and foundations have begun since 1939. The Blue Mosque of Tabriz is very important due to its antiquity and considering that it is one of the few buildings that has not been completely destroyed in the great earthquakes of Tabriz and parts of it are still standing.
