Sistan and Baluchestan is one of the vast provinces of Iran, which due to its diversity of climate, has shown a variety of sights. In some parts of this province, you can see the beautiful and azure beaches of the Oman Sea and the Indian Ocean with its ports. Mangrove forests can be seen in other parts. But one of the rare natural phenomena that can be seen in this province is low mountains with a different appearance. The shape of these mountains is so unusual that the name “Martian mountains” has been chosen for them.

Martian mountains can be seen in different parts of Sistan and Baluchestan, but the largest and densest of them is located about 30 km east of Chabahar. These mountains cover a large area, but access to them requires a bit of walking or the use of off-road vehicles. It is about 2 km from the road to the mountains. Of course, it is possible to see and photograph these mountains from the side of the road and it is not necessary for a distance of 2 km.

Martian mountains are the result of natural erosion on the sedimentary bed of this region. The type of soil and the animal remains in them are a good indication of the fact that once upon a time, this whole region was the sea.
