During the autumn and winter, when most of the provinces of Iran are covered with snow and cold, Khuzestan, with its temperate climate and abundant natural and historical monuments, welcomes many tourists. This province has a unique variety of different sights, and for this reason, any kind of taste can enjoy spending a few days in this province.
Izeh is one of the cities of Khuzestan which is considered as one of the important tourist points of this province with its many natural and historical monuments. In the southeast of Izeh city and a short distance from the city, there is a large cave with a large enterance, which has become one of the important tourist destinations of this city. Existence of a beautiful walking path among the trees and amenities, has turned this area into a recreation area for the people of Izeh. “Eshkaft-e Salman” Cave is located in a high area of the city and for this reason, a clear image of Izeh can be seen from inside this cave.
Eshkaft-e Salman Cave is actually two cave entrances, one of which is much larger than the other. The caves are not very deep and at the deepest point of the caves there is enough light to see. Inside the caves and on its walls, due to high humidity and dripping water droplets, many mosses and grasses have grown, and for this reason, it has created a cool and pleasant atmosphere. At the deepest point of the larger cave, there is a small spring, and this spring is another important reason for the attractiveness of this sight.
Natural attractions are not the only reason for the importance of this cave. The presence of ancient stone motifs has made this area one of the ancient tourist destinations. These motifs belong to the Elamite period and the third millennium BC and are of great historical value due to their antiquity. This place was the temple of Trisha, one of the gods of Elam.
In another corner of this cave, you can see the remains of a building that belongs to the Atabakan period. Existence of a variety of natural and ancient monuments, Eshkaft Salman cave has become an important place for visitors to visit.
