In areas where a significant amount of snow accumulates in the valleys, it sometimes happens that the melting process starts from the bottom and therefore a corridor is created for the passage of water. These corridors are called ice caves or snow tunnels.
There are ice caves in many parts of Iran, one of the most important of which is in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province and in the Koohrang region, which is known as Chama ice cave.
Chama Ice Cave is located 110 km northwest of Shahrekord on the way to Sar-Agha-Seyed village. It is not difficult to access and visit this cave, but due to the loose walls and roof of this type of cave, entering them is unsafe and it is recommended to visit it without entering the cave and only through its mouth. Also, walking on the roof of these caves is a very dangerous and unfortunate accidents have occurred due to their collapse.
