In the west of Fars province and in the neighborhood of “Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province”, there is one of the beautiful waterfalls of Iran, which attracts many enthusiasts with a different view from many other waterfalls in this land. This waterfall is located about 150 km from Shiraz city and near a village called Margon.
Margon is a tall and wide waterfall. But its important feature is that it has no river upstream. In fact, Margon is a spring that flows out from the heart of the mountain and comes out of the crevices of the rocks and flows downwards. The water of this waterfall downstream turns into the Margon River and irrigates many lands along its route in Fars province. This river is one of the sources of the important Kor River, which creates the beautiful lake of Dorodzan Dam.
Access to Margon Falls is not difficult and can be reached by car near the waterfall. The short walking distance is also passable for all people. The area around the waterfall is rich in vegetation and is covered with a variety of trees, especially oak. In addition, in the spring, the whole area is covered with lush gardens and pastures. That is why the best time to visit this waterfall is spring.
At the beginning of the walk, limited amenities such as parking and toilets have been constructed. Inside Margon village it is also possible to stay in rural houses and can be used for overnight stays.
